COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) — If you want to see the Aggies take on some of the best competition in the world, Texas A&M Robomasters has you covered. The organization kicked off its annual international Robomasters competition, and some of the best robots made their way to College Station.
Fifteen teams arrived at Aggieland to show off their skills, including teams from Italy and Canada. Robomasters is a competition in which collegiate teams compete with robots that launch high-speed projectiles at each other.
The event takes place at the Memorial Student Center and includes one-on-one, three-on-three, and kids competitions. Robomasters member Dominic Paone thinks that even if you don’t know anything about robots, you’ll still have a great time.
“It’s a spectator sport. You don’t really know much about robots in order to understand what is going on. You can very easily see on the screens the damage in progress and the first person views. It’s like watching a video game,” says Paone.
Robomasters Marketing Director Kenzie Guillamun hopes viewers will learn a few things and hopefully get interested in robotics.
“It was a very good learning experience not only for the engineers, but also for the operations, the software, the embedded, every hardware member. I feel like we all have a learning experience and I hope we can start again,” says Guillamun.
