Delinea extends Cloud Suite to enable centralized management of Linux user groups

REDWOOD CITY, CA., March 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Delineaa leading provider of Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions for transparent security, today announced new features for Cloud Suite that improve transparent access for local groups on Linux systems. Customers can now add users from cloud directories (e.g. Active Directory, LDAP, Okta, Azure AD, etc.) to existing on-premises Linux groups, solving long-standing efficiency and management issues by simplifying and improving the central management of policies. With a centralized administrative experience, Delinea customers now enjoy greater efficiency in controlling access to critical workloads.

On Windows and Linux machines, local user groups group user accounts into manageable units, simplifying access management. However, when systems number in the hundreds or thousands, managing local groups on each system becomes untenable. Windows benefits from Active Directory groups for centralized management, where groups have scope across multiple servers in a domain or forest. On Linux, no native equivalent exists, leading to operational overhead and the possibility of over-provisioning users, increasing the risk of a data breach.

“Cloud Suite now solves a huge identity and access management (IAM) and PAM challenge for IT and DevOps teams by centralizing the administration of user identities and local group memberships,” said Jon Kuhn, SVP of Product Management at Delinea. “As members are centrally defined in the platform, they are dynamically added to the appropriate local groups, ensuring that local data and file access permissions are enforced. This additional functionality continues to extend the principles of just-in-time and just-enough access across hybrid and cloud infrastructures, which are increasingly critical for elastic environments where resources constantly fluctuate and ease of use is paramount.”

“As we move towards centralized management and governance, Delinea solutions aim to support large-scale cloud transformation initiatives requiring a modern approach to PAM due to the new dynamics of hybrid cloud,” continued Kuhn.

Cloud Suite’s group membership management capabilities now also provide an ancillary benefit of increased security by making quick and responsive changes to group membership permissions during a cybersecurity incident. For example, during an ongoing breach, administrators can disable certain groups to cut off access to a specific Linux machine or account, thereby removing bad actor access and preventing lateral movement.

Other new features in Delinea Cloud Suite version 22.1 include:

  • To address the increase in non-human privileged access, Cloud Suite now also leverages the Cloud Suite platform and client on the machine to perform privileged tasks without logging in. Predefined tasks can be executed on a remote system, depending on their identity and their rights and their success. login to the platform.
  • Delinea gateway connectors now support Windows Server 2022.
