Job Title: Streaming Director
Reports to: Andrew Woloz, VP of Circulation
Supported by: Sara Pendleton, Streaming Associate
Jennifer Reeves, Outreach Coordinator
Interfaces with: Other streaming directors, digital marketing, advertising, design, international, radio, assigned label teams

Job Purpose: Lead ongoing strategic marketing conversations and act as a liaison between artists/managers, labels, label services and DSPs

Main responsibilities:
  • Initiate, develop and execute marketing strategies in conjunction with Fantasy Records, Rounder Records, Concord Records, Easy Eye Sound and Concord Jazz with the goal of increasing digital streaming revenue and raw streaming numbers across the various DSPs
  • Analyze data and research (artist history, references, previous campaigns, current efforts, etc.) to formulate plans leading to exit campaigns.
  • Create, distribute and regularly update best practices and procedures for artist teams and labels to maximize the potential of DSPs and increase streams, placements and fan engagement for our releases
  • Reflect, analyze and adjust plans accordingly throughout publication campaigns to ensure the achievement of established objectives
Overview of specific functions:

department

  • Act as a support to department heads to ensure all needs – across streaming, digital marketing and advertising, are expressed internally
  • Establish and improve workflow. Troubleshoot issues, work with other departments and labels to resolve issues, establish a productive and constructive conversation, and keep lines of communication open
  • Give regular updates on DSPs, department workflow, artist signings and campaigns to Head of Department and Executive Management
  • Work with other streaming directors to ensure all departmental needs are met – internally, with other label departments/departments, and with the departments themselves
  • Travel regularly to internal and external business meetings (including those with artists), events, conventions, seminars and festivals to become a face for Concord, develop internal and external working relationships and build relationships with artist/management teams and DSPs
  • Be a resource and an ally for other team members

DSP

  • Keep abreast of changes to each of the DSPs and send timely updates on these changes to labels
  • Properly pitch all releases to DSPs with established marketing goals and strategies for on- and off-platform placement
  • Optimize artist profile pages on DSPs
  • Look for ways DSPs can impact our campaigns and introduce them to new ideas
  • Create creative opportunities with DSPs, artists/managers, labels and internally with our department and execute those ideas throughout a campaign
  • Schedule regular business review meetings with the DSPs
  • Ensure they are fully aware of changes within Fantasy Records, Rounder Records, Concord Records, Easy Eye Sound and Concord Jazz
  • To properly configure priority releases on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • To meet priority artists and management who can talk about releases appropriately

Industry

  • Attend industry events, festivals, conferences and conventions to keep up to date with industry trends and changes to ensure Concord label artists are leading the way in the industry
  • Read, watch, listen and learn about industry news to develop your personal and professional creativity and understanding of business
  • Keep up to date with industry partner/DSP reception, shareholder information, financial status, subscriber changes, etc. to ensure that we are aware of and are engaging appropriately with our partner companies

Labels

  • Collaborate with Fantasy Records, Rounder Records, Easy Eye Sound Concord Records and Concord Jazz to develop marketing plans for upcoming releases and campaigns
  • Regularly update the awarded labels on what is changing in each of the DSPs and within the industry as a whole
  • Create, distribute and regularly update best practices and procedures for artist teams and labels to maximize the potential of DSPs and increase streams, placements and fan engagement for our releases
What you need to succeed:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the music industry, preferably in a record label, distributor or DSP
  • Knowledge and work history in a wide variety of musical genres an asset
  • Experience working with all major DSP platforms (preferably Spotify, Apple, Amazon, etc.)
  • High level of organization and time management required
  • Must be thorough and highly motivated
  • Experience working as a liaison between multiple teams and monitoring campaign execution from start to finish
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks and delegate appropriately
  • Regular travel required
  • 4-year college degree preferred, but not required
